2024 My Year in Books – Favorites and Future Goals

This was the best year for reading for me in a long time. I used to devour books like this when I was younger. After the concussion at the beginning of 2014, I stopped reading for a while. Slowly I started reading again and this year I found my groove. I’m so happy to have been embraced by publishers at NetGalley, which has given me access to some fantastic books I never would have sought out. In particular, the Wrexford & Sloane series by Andrea Penrose has become a favorite, all thanks to an advanced reader copy!

Favorite reads of this year would include My Effin’ Life by Geddy Lee. He is the lead singer of Rush whose family survived the concentration camps of the Nazis. It was a sobering and inspiring read. Keith O’Brien’s biography of Pete Rose was also very eye-opening.

I feel that They Came for the Schools is a must-read with the current environment in the United States. I learned about several historical events that I never learned about in school, such as the Halifax Explosion featured in When the World Fell Silent. I read many book son adoption where I could identify with the authors in various ways. One of the best, though was Who Is a Worthy Mother?

I’m setting a goal in 2025 of 100 books read. I should be able to achieve it. I spend time listening to audiobooks when I take trips and work on my diamond painting, while my Kindle accompanies me everywhere. I still have 40 books on my “to read” shelf at NetGalley! I have to start being a bit more choosy about those advance reader copies because I feel like I’m left with little time for other series and books I want to read as well. Still, I have enjoyed this exposure to so many new authors.

Below are the books I completed reading this year. If I’ve already posted a review, clicking on the image will bring you to that review.
