I’ve been to London four times now. Most of the time, I stick to the hop-on, hop-off buses for touring. One of my friends and frequent travel partners lived in London for a semester in college, so she does a great job plotting things we need to see as well. However, after reading this book, I realized there are a few things I missed out on that might be interesting to see.

At just 149 pages, The Essential Guide for Unforgettable Destinations: Navigating London’s Must-See Attractions is not a long book at all, and doesn’t even come close to being comprehensive. If you’re embarking on your first tour of the city, there’s a great foundation here, along with a lot of travel tips that are already known to frequent travelers. It’s going to give you some places to find online and check out if you have the time to visit, rather than being a complete guide. There is no information as to hours or the cost of seeing the sights in this book, probably due to the fact that it can change regularly.

The format is easy to follow. In the beginning, there are some general travel tips that are good for people not accustomed to international travel. It highlights choosing where to stay and how to get around, just as many city guides do. There are many attractions given a brief highlight from which you can decide if it’s something you want to see. I came away with a desire to visit some of the museums I’ve bypassed on my visits. It hardly covers everything, and if you’re looking for specific things, such as Abbey Road or the Sherlock Holmes Museum, you’re not going to find that information in here.

I tried to think of this book in terms of the first time I visited London. Could it have helped me? I can say that The Essential Guide for Unforgettable Destinations: Navigating London’s Must-See Attractions is a good thing to read if you’re thinking of a trip to London, due to the fact that you can read it on Kindle Unlimited. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s worth buying. There are better, more comprehensive guides out there. I did come away with a couple of places I want to check out when I next go back there, but other than that, there wasn’t all that much in here that you can’t find anywhere else.
