This post is my 2,000th post on this blog. I started it during the days of COVID when I dusted off the files containing the reviews I’d posted while writing at Epinions and started posting the ones that still had some relevance. I also started making observations about what was happening during COVID and what we were doing to keep ourselves from going crazy. Currently, I have 317,945 hits to this blog.

Since then, I started a couple of other topics within this blog. I started working on an episode-by-episode review of the original Babylon 5, which I’ve much enjoyed. I really want to start on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but I want to finish Babylon 5 first. I started reviewing the MCU movies and television series in chronological order. I lost some interest in that, but hopefully I can pick it up again. I started reviewing the Outlander series as well, but I’ve stalled a bit there as well. It’s all about how things call to and inspire me. Right now, I’m working on a post about The Great British Baking Show that I’ll probably have ready in the next few weeks. I was hoping it would be ready now. Some days I enjoy writing, other days it feels like work. A lot of the time, I just forget posting something on days like that, even though I mentally committed myself to posting once a day. C’est la vie.

My biggest success has been with books. I started with posting my reviews from Epinions, then moved to newer books. I won a few Giveaways at Goodreads and then came across Netgalley, where I became an advanced reader for books coming out. I really enjoy that for the most part, although sometimes I get stuck with a book I don’t really feel like finishing, but must in order to write a fair review. I was also recruited by Booksirens to be a part of their advanced review team, but I am not as active there as I am on Netgalley. I’ve found a few series that I really enjoy through this, such as the Wrexford & Sloane historical fiction mystery series, in addition to many good British cozy mysteries.

I’ve made a number of political and opinion posts, but unless it really speaks to me, I don’t post about it. For my own mental health, I try not to obsess over the news and stay away from too much information, or I’ll struggle with finding the good things in the world. I’ve posted some of my geocaching escapades, but I’ve even struggled with getting out and doing that more recently.

I’ve made a few friends and found a number of other blogs that I enjoy reading, such as Geocaching While Black, Lyssy in the City, and Life Through Basia’s Eyes. I even met the author of A Different Perspective at this year’s GeoWoodstock! Some of my fellow former Epinions writers have blogs here, such as The Overeducated Housewife, A Certain Point of View, Too, Reviews of Old and New Stories. Mostly Old, and Leonberger Life.

I’d like to thank everyone who’s read even just one of my posts. I don’t think I’d be encouraged to keep doing this if I didn’t see some of my writing really catching fire with some people.
