After five nights in Killeen, we were turning to head back east. When I was planning, I started looking at what was between Killeen and Destin, Florida where the main office for my remote work is. I wanted to stop there for a few days to meet with he owner and turn over all of the end-of-year paperwork and reports I had. I thought about taking in an Astros game since one of the things I’d like to do is visit major league ballparks. Then, I stumbled on the new Camp Margaritaville Resort on the Bolivar Penisula in Crystal Beach.

Now this is camping! Every campground should have a swim-up bar.
It took us about five hours to drive over from Killeen. I thought it was a great spot to cut our driving time between Killeen and Destin. (Actually, we could have used another day, but that’s the next post.)

It’s pretty new so the trees aren’t as mature as I would like, but it was a great place to stay. Also, since they are new, the rates weren’t bad at all. In another year, it will probably be a lot more expensive.

We had asked Janet and Lily to join us and they did for the first two nights. We got Lily to go in the pool and by the end of the day, she was enjoying it and splashing around. We so enjoyed spending this time with them since they live so far away and we don’t get to spend time with them the way we do our other two grandchildren.
We spent the last day there also in the pool, just relaxing. After two weeks of moving a lot, it was nice to have a few days to just relax. I did find a geocache that was down on the beach at the resort.
