I haven’t felt much like writing lately. I’m not sure why. I think some of it has to do with the one-year anniversary of the disaster of my appendix that nearly killed me. I think that has added to the PTSD I already had and I didn’t realize it until the anniversary started creeping up. I saw the memories from the cruise I’d gotten off only a few days before and knowing what was coming afterward, they didn’t seem like a lot of fun (even though I had a blast on that cruise.) I have plenty of material – several drafts of book reviews and old reviews from Epinions that need to be edited, but just zero drive to do anything with them.
I have gotten out geocaching, so I’ll probably put together a post about that next. I was planning to go again this weekend, but we’re looking at 3 days of snow. We didn’t get much through the end of January, but suddenly with the last week of February, we’re getting a lot. It’s pretty to look at, but by March I’m usually over it and just want it to be spring.
I visited a friend in Washington DC last week. I’ll write about that eventually too. I got to tour the White House and the FBI as well as walk around the Mall. We went to a production of Drunk Shakespeare (definitely worth it) and out to Manassas Battlefield. I took the train down for a change and really enjoyed traveling that way.
We’re heading out on the 18th for a four-week camping trip. I’m going to see if I can discipline myself to write about it each night before I crawl into bed. This trip will take us from New Hampshire down through Tennessee where my daughter and her husband live. After a stop near Nashville, it’s on to Memphis. My husband really wanted to stop and see Graceland, but last night I informed him that tickets to tour the house were $80 each and we decided we’d just see it from the outside. From Memphis, we are going to Hot Spring, Arkansas where we’re staying at the National Park. After a couple of days there, it’s on to Texas. My son is deployed, by my daughter-in-law and granddaughter are there so we’ll spend time with them. I’m looking forward to meeting up with the author of the blog Geocaching While Black. I’ve tried to work out a meet-up the couple of times I’ve been to Texas but life just got in the way. This time will be different!
After that, I was looking for something to do around Houston. My idea was to take in an Astros game since one thing I’d like to try to do is visit different baseball parks around the country. While I was looking for places to stay, I came across the new Margaritaville camping resort in Crystal Beach. Baseball game went out the window as we can take my daughter-in-law and granddaughter there for the weekend with us. They can go back home afterward, and we’ll travel to Destin, Florida where we’ll spend 3 nights and I’ll meet up with my boss.
From there we’ll head to Myrtle Beach. We’re staying right in town at the KOA so my son can venture out a bit on his own if he wants to. After that, it’s four nights in Williamsburg, Virginia. I spent a few days there about 15 years ago with my younger two kids. Finally, we are headed to the National Park Campground at Assateague where the wild horses hang out among the campers on the beach. I wanted to visit there since a friend of mine camped there a couple of years ago.
Not being able to get out this weekend, I can work on getting things ready for camping. I have clothes to sort through, and we’ll need everything imaginable since we’ll be coming out of the northeast in the middle of March when it could still be pretty chilly, and by the time we’re in Texas, Florida, and more it will likely be shorts weather. The camper is still currently being repaired from our last adventure, but it should be fixed by next weekend. That means, though, that I can’t work on getting everything straightened out in it. It may be a case of putting stuff in boxes or baskets and bringing it to the camper right when we pick it up. It might not be practical with this snow to put it in the driveway.
So, I have a lot to do over the next couple of weeks, and maybe getting away from here a bit will help motivate me to write again, or at least edit what I already have to work with.

Sorry to hear that you are feeling a little blue but pleased to know that you have something good to look forward to!! 🙂 Four weeks sounds a great time to really get away! I look forward to reading about it! I have never been to Memphis but would love to visit. If Gracelands really is that expensive then I will just walk around it and then head to the old Sun studio area instead! 😉
Wishing you better days! 🙏🙏🤗
Thank you. Yes, Graceland is that expensive. They have VIP tours that are even more expensive than that, I really don’t need to see it that I would spend $250 for my family to tour it.
Agreed! There will be far better ways to spend that amount of money!
Safe travels Patti! I’m looking forward to hearing about your adventures!
Thank you! Geo-Woodstock is still planned for May!
