I had the privilege to see Duran Duran before they hit it big, at a small club on Long Island called Malibu. At that point, they were only heard on a few […]
DVD Review – Duran Duran: Sing Blue Silver – Big Hair and Synthesizers
Patti Aliventi
Once upon a time there was this website called Epinions. I wrote thousands of reviews there. I love books, movies, and television; mostly science fiction. I'm a gun-totin', meat-eatin' liberal with libertarian leanings who will voice my opinion.
Book Review: Hornblower and the Hotspur by C.S Forester – The Rise of a Hero
The third book in this series by C.S. Forester easily comes in as the strongest so far. The characters who have been introduced earlier in the series build on the qualities seen […]
Movie vs. Book – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – Chapter 6: Gilderoy Lockhart

Movie vs. Book – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – Chapter 5: The Whomping Willow
With all that happens in this chapter, my favorite part is the first paragraph: The end of the summer vacation came too quickly for Harry’s liking. He was looking forward to getting […]

Movie vs. Book – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – Chapter 4: At Flourish and Blotts
In this chapter, most of the events play out the same as we see in the film, with a few more details to enrich the story. Percy Weasley has a bigger role […]
Book Review: My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie
I was very surprised at how much I learned from this fictionalized account of the life of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander Hamilton. I generally enjoy history, and this book is […]
