My 1,000th Blog Post

Last week I saw I was coming up on my 1,000th blog post. I tried to think about what I wanted to write. Ideas came and went.

I’m going to make this a thank you post. Thank you to everyone who has read my posts. That you to everyone who has liked my posts. Thank you to everyone who has shared my posts.

I started this blog when the COVID shutdown happened. The prospect of being stuck home with nothing to do except watch television did not appeal to me. Once upon a time I wrote reviews for the website Epinions. The product reviews from then would be woefully out of date, but music, movies, and books are eternal. I started writing some original reviews. I dug up the files of all of my reviews on Epinions and reworked them as necessary for today’s world. I still have almost 900 of those I can post.

I think I’ve done pretty well from then until now. I’ve tried to post two posts a day. Sometimes that happens, sometimes it doesn’t. Life gets in the way. I’ve invited the world to come along on my geocaching travels, something I wasn’t doing when I wrote for Epinions. I made it all the way through Star Trek: The Original Series which I hadn’t done back then. I started on Babylon 5 and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in chronological order. There are other television series I’d like to work on episode by episode, but I think one at time is good. I’d like to tackle more of Star Wars on film and series as well. I’d like to cover Anthony Bordain’s shows. There’s a lot I’d like to write about.

But there are just so many hours in a day and a fraction of those my brain actually wants to function. I do what I can when I can and hopefully along the way I get to “meet” other authors and read many other thoughts and “visit” many other places.

Here’s to the next 1,000!

  1. Congratulations! I don’t always comment but I do enjoy your reviews. And I love to hear about your geocaching adventures!! Since I only post 3 times a week It will take me another 60 weeks to get to 1000 posts! You are a superstar and I applaud your energy to post so often!

    • Thank you! You are one of the people I am so happy to have “met” here. Like I said, I had a lot of old material to work with that made it easy. I’d probably be posting a lot less if it was all original.

  2. Congrats on reaching the 1,000th Post mark! That’s an accomplishment. Keep it going!

I’m only 83 blog posts away from getting to that magical number. Had my first laptop not died last year, I would have been able to use over 1,000 Epinions reviews; as it is, I was able to retrieve a few before my old Compaq finally gave up the digital ghost.

      • Does that mean I’m a “social media influencer”? (Seriously, I’m glad I am a positive influence on people….)

I was able to recycle at least five of my Epinions reviews. Of course, I hoped to use more; it’s not always easy to produce “fresh” material, and I often don’t feel like writing reviews these days.

Anyway, you’re welcome for the inspiration to blog. You’re good at it, and the beginning of the pandemic was, in a weird way, the “perfect” time for you to start this blog.
