Where Have I Been?

Me in the center

I didn’t fall off of the face of the earth or get COVID.

Way back in the early days of the internet, there used to be usenet newsgroups that people looked to for discussion on topics. One of those was rec.arts.disney.parks (or RADP). Back in 1996, people who participated in the group met for the first time in December at Disney World.

They’ve been doing it every year since.

A lot has changed over the years. People have come and gone to the group. The evolution of the internet meant many people who participated back in “the old days” now have websites of their own and plan their own meet-ups.

However, we always had a dwindling core group of friends who continues the RADP tradition.

This was year 25. Normally, that would have been a big deal. COVID had other ideas.

Still, some of us needed the mental-health break. If you have wanderlust and are used to traveling a lot, this has been a tough year. For me, that coupled with my issues of anxiety and depression, I needed it.

I had a good week. I’ll write up more later. However, one of the last things I had to do was toss my laptop in my carry-on. Guess what I forgot to do? I managed to do some of my work using my ipad and phone, but without my laptop, I wasn’t going to try to write and post anything.

I arrived home last night, feeling fine and receiving the much-needed uplift and mental health break.
